NameProfessor Course Date Plato’s meaning of Mixed and Unmixed Goods The Philebus explains Plato’s view of mixed and mixed goods. It contains the most complex treatment of pleasure in any platonic dialogue. In the Philebus Plato asserted that certain unmixed goods are full-fledged and are even worthy of gods (Plato & Hackforth 72). However Socrates rejected Plato’s view on the pure pleasures. According to Plato the “mixed life of pleasure and intelligence is better compared to the unmixed life of intelligence.” Secondly he asserted that unmixed life of intelligence is considered the truth. Therefore Plato’s preferred influence to persuasion since he deemed it to have both democratic and epistemological weakness. However he acknowledges that rhetoric is an integral part of philosophy.
