It was commissioned by Emperor Domitian in AD 82 in memory of his brother Titus who had passed in war. The arch was meant to commemorate the victories that Titus had won during his life which were a number of them including the Siege of Jerusalem. Emperor Domitian was the emperor of Rome from 81 had over others. The shows that were held by private families were called Munera. They had an influence on the political state of Rome since only powerful families participated.
