This is caused by the expectations of every athlete to win, perform well at an elite level or reach the highest level of his or her own career. Thus, in 1991, through a collective initiative by the International Olympic Committee, World Anti-doping Agency was created. The role of the agency is to developed rules, coordinate and monitor the fight against doping in sports. The conference was held in Lausanne, Switzerland, and commonly known as Declaration of Lausanne. The agency has banned any substances which may promote recovery, enhance performance, create an unfair advantage or improve body appearance of the athlete during competition. Therefore, this program will provide education and prevention knowledge to sportsmen and women. The program will give evidence based on all subsistence banned and the implications of doping.

This will enable athletes from messing up with the career and health through doping van den (Broek et. al, 2015). The rationale of the Drug Education and Prevention Program The program will involve more than one million sportsmen and women across the country, which will be trained on the impact of using the drugs and how they affect their bodies. Proposed interventions program Using drugs to enhance one’s abilities in competition and gives unfairness have not only concerns the Paralympic and Olympic but also amateur athletes. These increase in the use of drugs have created a major concern because the integrity, fun, and reputation of sports is getting lost every day. The following are Substances banned by WADA Stimulants Generally, dealing with drug properties, a stimulant can be viewed as any substance that increases functionality. Its functionalities resemble the work of an existing neurotransmitter or oppose the functionality of inhibiting neurotransmitter. Peptides are mostly used for helping the muscle rebuild after an injury. Peptides can also be used during preseason or other periods where muscle building is highly wanted. The major side effects of using peptide hormones include a high risk of stroke or heart problems, abnormal growth, heart disease, diabetes and arthritis, Edema, Gynecomastia, carpal tunnel syndrome, muscular skeletal discomfort, fatigue and redness (Eichner, 2018). The major components are made up of 191 amino acids and are stabilized by two disulfide bonds. Corticosteroids have the effect of increasing energy and effort because of high glucose, Quick replenishment of glycogen consumed during exercise, increased euphoria and decreased the sense of fatigue, less pain and muscle swelling (Martínez-Sanz et. al 2017). Opioid analgesics This is narcotic that lightly refers to a broad range of drugs including cocaine, marijuana and opium and its derivatives. Athletes often use analgesics to relieve pain that is caused by musculoskeletal damage and stimulate euphoria. Moreover, analgesics can be used to get rid of negative emotions, performance anxiety and psychological stress due to its mood transforming properties. Dehydration also has the effect of overheating the body.

Alcohol consumption can also lead to retarded muscle development, inhibit aerobic performance and also affect new memory formation process. The positive impacts of alcohol include increased confidence and reduced anxiety. Alcohol usage is denied in sports such as archery, automobile, and power boating because it can impair judgment, increase reaction time and thereby expose other athletes to danger. Other banned substances include Diuretics and Anabolic androgenic steroids. Furthermore, doping traits are also affected by the availability and affordability of the substance. Risk assessment involves analyzing two notions: That the athlete will test positive on the test and that the abuse will cause negative effects on the user's health. Since the first component will not apply to recreational athletes, our consideration is based on what Donovan proposed about damage on the health.

These components are the onset of the effects, the severity of the effects, and reversibility of the effects. Knowing the real health risks and effects of various doping agents form a basis of all the models of preventing the use of PEDs. This fact proves that this program is effective as it is generally concerned about razing athlete's awareness by helping to eradicate ignorance, increasing athlete's competency and much more. Since an athlete is an individual who needs protection, hence there is a necessity to rally a range of departments to explain the reasons for the presence of problematic behaviors; this is just but raising awareness on the importance of education which is the ultimate goal of the program. Many athletes end up using substances without knowing the side effect of the doping agent; this program’s main objective is to raise awareness on topics such as this.
