It is ironic that this young girl is acting an adult in this situation. Since the mother is the one who is supposed to be saying that she is going to march for free her people but not the child. In the first stanza, there is the use of irony which makes the poem to be more interesting. In the first stanza, the little girl is in the desperate situation of helping African American to have better life. mr. He also uses metaphor in stanza seven to show how the mother got worried, afraid and angry when she heard about the explosion. There is the use of repetition in stanza two which says, ‘no, baby, no, you may not go’. This implies the fear and the worries the mother have towards her small daughter.
