Educating young kids about the lgbt community

This subject matter is rather sensitive when discussing it with second graders, who are used to seeing a woman and man together and not people of the same gender in a relationship. Talking this topic with kids is confusing to them, but it’s crucial that information concerning the LGBT community be taught to kids as early as second grade. , and it’s critical to educate them on the type of parental setting they are being raised in. Currently, there has been a global rising where LGBT was rallied people from diverse regions in spearheading campaigns against the mistreatment of the LGBT community. The LGBT has shown resilience in their urge to be accepted in certain areas for example in schools.

It’s peculiar seeing how the same uniting factor is part of discrimination. Studies indicate that schools are notorious in openly displaying their disregard for students who acknowledge themselves with the LGBT community (Mayo, 2014). Most of these learners never attain academic success and perform well because they are taunted continuously in school. The teachers try to concealing their discrimination by utilizing various unreasonable factors in stopping students within this community from becoming part of their class. For example, the teacher might favor the general populace as a way of making sure that learners in this community don’t succeed. Kids that are educated on this subject matter will grow up knowing the facts about gender and sexuality, and thus their mentality towards the LGBT people will not be negative, but it will be a somewhat positive one.

They will not grow up seeing these people as doing illegal deeds or even being evil, but they will appreciate diversity at a faster rate compared to when this matter is brought up when they are much older and have been filled with false information either from the immediate environment or the internet. Achieving the goal of people appreciating diversity begins with the kids so that when they grow up, they will pass down the same mentality to their kids. Although it may take some time for individuals in this range to be entirely acknowledged by society, it is a positive sign that endeavors are currently inbound with the intent of portraying support and creating awareness about diversity. Education needs to stay as it seemed to be, the original joining component on the planet and although diversity may appear to be a tremendous change in the education sector, the LGBT has an option to be effectively included.
