Nutrition Case Study: Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) Name; Date; Nutrition Case Study; NAFLD Q.1 The human liver is the second largest organ in the body whose location is just under the right sided ribcage. While the liver plays some very vital roles in the body its most important and basic function is the removal of toxic substances from the human body. One of the most increasingly common and worrying diseases of the liver is the Non- Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NALFD). The cause of this disease unlike other diseases is not alcohol as the name suggests but is the buildup of unnecessary fats in the liver cells. The term fatty liver is used to describe a situation where 5-10% of the weight of the liver is chiefly fat (Loomba & Sanyal 2013). The disease causes the liver to swell a condition known as steatohepatitis. NAFLD disease as in American Association for the study of liver diseases. Hepatology. Schwingshackl L. & Hoffmann G.
