Hazardous Materials Management Name Institution Where to begin: The staff members in all of these Departments are exposed to dangers including chemical biological physical and radiological hazards. For this reason it is imperative to develop an OSHA compliant safety plan and a safety manual (for each Department). The contents of this plan shall include; a policy and goal statement a list of responsible persons hazard identification hazard controls and safe practices emergency and accident response employee training and communication and recordkeeping. A policy/ goal statement is basically the institution's pledge of commitment to ensure the safety of all its employees and its compliance with OSHA standards. The list of responsible persons will include a member of staff in each Department whom I shall appoint to oversee the implementation of the safety manual. Hazard identification will be done after all chemicals are inventoried by downloading and filling of the Material it to explode. A larger Microbiology Laboratory: A larger laboratory means greater chances of a hazardous event happening. The fact that the laboratory is dealing with stronger pathogens means that their impact when exposed would be more deadly. To determine the HazCom requirements I would weigh the likelihood of each pathogen being released against its impact when exposed. This will help me determine which areas need urgent attention. I would encourage the application of technology that discourages direct handling of the pathogens by the staff but encourages use computerized means and train the staff on how to use the technology thus reducing risks. She wants to market the stuff. What needs to be done before it can be marketed, and who should do it? 16. The university decides to partner with the chemistry professor and market this new compound. Due to the lack of flammability, it is a great hit nationwide. They then decide to market it worldwide. What concerns need to be addressed? 17. It turns out that this wonderful new compound, when used in conjunction with another chemical, makes a really great explosion. As the university is manufacturing the stuff in large quantities and storing it on the grounds, what concerns do you now have? What experts should you consult? 18. The biology department has been busy, too. The little microbiology lab is big now, and they are working with stronger pathogens. How would you determine the new hazard communication requirements and things that you should do beyond that minimum? After a tough 5 years, you have the Podunk University campus running smoothly, everybody is trained, and your successor will not have nearly as much of a challenge as you did.
