He further was predisposed to the wrong company in school and outside school which imparted negative energy to his mind. Dean`s scenario from the case study could be explained by various attributes and theories of lifespan development. However, the lifespan development stage for discussion in this case scenario is; the theory of Growth. (How a child develops from adolescent stage to adulthood. This development stage holds that development into aging and determined by the impact of growth natured under each lifespan development stage (Adolescence). In a nutshell Dean lacks someone to challenge him to take the right course to life. `Dean`s father cares less about how his son perform way below Stella grades, children are motivated by their parents to improve in their academics which Dean is lacking.

At this adolescent stage Dean should be graduating from childhood to adulthood whereby he should be taught how to embrace good moral values and challenged in making constructive or vocational strides in realizing better future in his adulthood. In a nutshell Dean is presented by two key challenges in his lifespan development stage; the inability to acquire biological mother love and the conflicting interests in his identity against confusion in the role he should play. Although he has his biological father with him, the father is concerned less about the welfare and progress of his son. According to, (Piaget, 2005), cognitive is affected by the external environment a child is exposed to and therefore, if a child is exposed to a demotivating environment hence hi/ her reasoning will be channelled negatively to life and association with others.

Parental love and care is very critical in nurturing a child`s cognitive development and abilities. A child who lacks the right parental intimacy is likely to suffer traumatic disorders which ultimately affects his psychosocial and physiological abilities, (Schaffer, 2004). The potential impact of individual and cultural differences on development. At the adolescent age, which is Dean`s current age, cultural differences have a great influence on how he interacts with other people across different cultures and regions. Conclusion To sum it up, lifespan development theories are pertinent in that as a child develops right from infancy, their feelings, emotions, trust and psychological factors develop as well. Development of these factors is what influences how the child will relate with others all the way to their adulthood.
