The hospital is one of the largest in the entire region, and it accommodates more than 2000 patients. On a daily basis, the hospital can receive in patients to up to even 500. Given the size and the role of the hospital in the region, it is required to report annually to the Hospital Safety Score. This is a non-governmental organization that usually ranks the performance of the hospital based on the safety rate of its patients. In the recent past, the safety score of the South Carolina General Hospital has increased at an alarming rate because of the infection rates at the hospital. A lot of money is also spent in curing the emerging diseases (Mehta, Gupta, Patil & Ramasubban, 2017). This health challenge can be elaborately explained based on the system theory.

System theory acknowledges that the general system is responsible for bringing change in the organization. A system is a conglomerate of activities that oversee the development and introduction of methodology that engineers change. Applying this system theory, therefore, means that the general health organization can work towards ensuring and developing the best measures to counter the infection rates within the general hospital. Cleanliness policy can also be developed in the entire system to control this matter. These policies and procedures can help in developing the best mechanism of dealing with this menace with urgency in the hospital (Nekkab, Astagneau & Temine, 2017). Recommendations to Ensure the Safety of the Patients To create the best mechanism for dealing with this problem, the first procedure is to develop a mechanism of data collection on the issue.

Employing data collection methods such as observation, questionnaires, and interviews can be instrumental in solving this problem. The data collected will help in determining the best safety improvement plan in the existing problem. This will help in protecting the face of the health institution. It is a concept that helps in developing and ensuring that the hospital maintains a good reputation. Reputation is a key concept in an health unit and protecting it is a priority in an health setting. It is a prime issue that promotes and guarantees the patient satisfaction.
