This came after it attained its independence from Portugal in 1822. It is important to know that Brazil is the fifth largest country in the world by population and land area. According to the latest censures figures, the Federative Republic of Brazil is estimated to have a population of about 210. 87 million people as at 2018 (World Population Review, 2018). Due to its large land area, majority of Brazil is sparsely populated. In addition, more than 60% of the Amazon Rainforest is located in Brazil. The country also hosts a wide range of wild animals including tapirs, armadillos, pumas and jaguars. The climate is mainly tropical which implies that is rarely experiences extreme weather conditions. This makes it ideal for as a tourist destination. Some of the human activities in Brazil include logging, mining, agriculture and fishing.

Brazil is considered one of the emerging countries that are expected to attain high growth, and its economy will improve over time. In respect of foreign direct investment into the US, Brazil is considered as the top 18th foundations and the seventh fastest and firmest growing country (Trading Economics, 2018). In the next section, this paper will discuss the political environment of Brazil. Political Environment Analysis Brazil is a federal republic that is based on the parliamentary system of governance. The Brazilian government gains extensive powers from the constitution of the country. Despite forming coalitions, there is a weak party discipline among politicians in Brazil since they move from one party to the next. Today, Brazil is led by an interim President, Michel Temer who has been in office since May 12th 2016 (Santander, 2018).

He will be succeeded in January 1st 2019 by Jair Bolsonaro (PSL) who was elected president in the 2018 presidential elections while Hamilton Mourao will assume the office of the Prime Minister on the same date. The next elections for the Presidency and Chamber of Deputies will be held in 2022 (Santander, 2018). As one of the largest democracies in the world, Brazil has enjoyed political stability despite the fact that there have been several civil unrests in the country.
