Nursing code of ethics provisions

In accordance with the first provision of the code of practice, I will ensure that I incorporate the patient in their care planning. Incorporating the patient ensures that their cultural and religious values are factored in their care and that they are able to make informed decisions on their care. I will also ensure to adhere to their decisions of care as per the principle of autonomy. In adherence to the provision, I will ensure to participate as a team player among the interdisciplinary teams and maintain civility in practice. The provision one guide nurses in ensuring patient safety through respecting the patients’ rights such as the right to self-determination, upholding the right to health in care and adhering to the patient’s needs by ensuring patient-centeredness in care (Butts & Rich, 2016).
