Order Description:
Art Appreciation Fall 2017 Name________________________________________ Short Report Assignment #2 Chapter 13: The Art of the Ancients Your Subject_: Pillar Statue of Akhenaton_ DUE Wednesday, Sept 27, 2017 (Every day it is late, 5 points off.) 100 points. This must be typed, double-spaced. This is not a bullet report. Read about your assigned subject in Chapter 13 and do research on your own. Try to use a real book from the NWACC library, then the internet if necessary (please try to use always use scholarly sources.) 2-3 pages long, double-spaced, normal size font. Your paper must have a logical progression. Avoid telling the same thing over and over just because you found a new source of info. Keep a nice flow to your paper. You must use correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Is there a legend, mystery, myth, or belief associated with your subject? If you find none, you don’t have to mention it in your paper. Why do you think your subject was created? (Your opinion or the opinion of experts.) Cite your sources using the correct form. Please place Works Cited on a separate piece of paper. Please have at least 3 sources. To learn how to cite properly, go to the embedded librarian on Blackboard for this course (sidebar) or library.nwacc.edu for a guide. I prefer MLA style guide. I like citing within the paper using parentheses. Good source for art history info online: arthistoryresources.net After reading from your sources, put what you have read in your own words. If quoting exactly, you must place quote marks around that sentence then cite it in parentheses. No plagiarism. Remember, start your paper with a good strong topic (thesis) sentence that introduces your subject or intrigues the reader. Avoid starting (or using anywhere in your paper) with “My assignment was…”. or “There was not much information on this subject…” or “I had a difficult time finding information on this subject.” You want an interesting opening line, not a plea for sympathy nor a confession of little effort on your part. Place “Short Report #2” on the top left with your name and Fall 2017. The subject you were assigned should be your title. Please visit (or submit online) the Writing Center on campus (English Hallway of Burns Hall) if you need help. Also, on the blackboard, read over the rubric I will be using to grade.
