It will show that Marx is inefficient in claiming that alienation of labour makes man exist as a slave. According to Marx, alienation of labour causes human beings to be alienated from themselves and others, until such time when they overcome alienation in a state of Communism. In examining the persuasive nature of Marx’s concept of alienation of labor, the article will evaluate the various forms of alienation and determine their merit. This will be achieved by asking several questions on each type of alienation: should the elements in question be put together, are the elements alienated from each other, and can they be overcome? The forms of alienation considered in the essay are alienation from the work process, alienation in worker relationships, alienation of our species-being, and alienation from worker products.

The essay will find that Marx’s viewpoints of labour alienation are not genuine cases of alienation. Additionally, production is not meant to be intrinsically fulfilling. People produce to survive, to fulfill their desires, and to formulate means to other (Kymlicka 176). Interpreting Marx’s views would mean that carpenters produce for the sake of creating. In the real sense, carpenters produce because they want tables or chairs. Marx states, “Indeed, labour itself becomes an object which he can obtain only with the greatest effort and with the most irregular interruptions. As previously mentioned, there is no compelling reason to state that people intrinsically should have pleasant and fulfilling work. Marx insufficiently views the alienation of the product of workers’ labour in various ways such as the mystification of humanity, the powerlessness of creation, and the alienation of workers’ products to the Capitalist.

“The alienation of the worker in his product means not only that his labour becomes an object, an external existence, but that it exists outside him,” (Marx 64). The simplest existence is that workers have claims over the products over their labour and that the Capitalist is taking that product out of their possession. This refers to total ownership of the item by the workers. In the rational sense, people possess distinct agencies, and as a result of the nature of their different lives, people often disagree with each other. This means that people are naturally alienated from other people (Byron 376), not because Capitalism makes them compete against each other, but because people cannot truly attain the unassailable restrictions to other’s minds.
