Stakeholder Positions on Reducing Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities Student’s name Institution Professor Course Date Stakeholder Positions on Reducing Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities Health disparity occurs when one is given a different treatment of health care based on their economic or social status their gender sex or sexuality and even their race. This often affects minority groups who are not treated as well as the privileged majority are treated. It is a sort of discrimination and can include exclusion from certain services or fair treatment based on any of the factors listed above. For instance the Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender people sometimes call out on discrimination at the health facilities whereby they are denied health care based on their sexuality and or gender. The LGBT being a minority groups 2002 research gives an approximation of 4% health equity (Healthy People 2014). Health equity will ensure all Americans can access high quality health care and reduce discrimination on minority groups based on their race ethnicity socio-economic status among other factors. This can be done through economic empowerment and acquisition of knowledge and skills as these contribute to disparities including health disparities. References Health and Human Services-USA.
