Name Instructor Course Date The school-to-prison pipeline in America Summary The article “The school to prison pipeline” presents a critical argument on the current judicial system and the manner in which the system handles adolescents and young offenders in general. The main argument in this case is therefore the issue of adolescent offending and how the criminal justice system in the country deals with such juvenile delinquents. The argument therefore notes the current system does not handle the juvenile offenders with the necessary professionalism that may help in serving as a source of endless punishment (Sykes 5). The point of focus in this context may also refer to the presumption that there is a higher number of colored juvenile offenders who have to undergo the school prison pipeline process as compared to the young white criminals. The assumption introduces the possible concern within racially based studies that the school to on this subject perhaps relate to the fact that it is agreeable that the current criminal system is inclined more towards punitive measures as opposed to dealing with such young offenders through change oriented approaches. The conclusion in this case is that there is a need for policy change and reforms in the system to deal with the inconsistencies in the system. Journals on criminology and the causes of teenage delinquency may support this argument (Shoesmith 1460). Works Cited Payne Allison A. "Book Review: Eith C. A. (2005).
