Due to the strict leader-follower relationship between authoritative leaders and their subordinates, when conflict arises the subordinates find themselves at a disadvantage as the environment does not give them room to defy the leader and defend themselves. Additionally the source of ethics and morals is therefore the leader meaning they vary depending on the characteristics of the specific leader. The most significant benefit of this style is that the leader gives professionals who are more knowledgeable than him the platform to make decisions concerning the organization.
This leader however is very active in the case of conflict arising. They play the role of mediator and final decision maker when conflict arises among employees. This is because they take the same approach to conflict resolution as with leadership; empowering others to reach their full potential and giving them the platform to do that.
