It is essential to note that achieving a balance in the education subjects is necessary for a whole development of an individual. As such, it is argued that students need to be exposed to a broader field of education purposefully to gain knowledge of handling situations in different scenarios (Slouka). This argument presents the fact that both the humanities subjects and the perceived Math and Sciences are essential in developing individuals who can positively change the society. For instance, the humanities subject such as History and literature are vital in shaping the social life of individuals. Such subjects; the humanities, provide the opportunity for students to learn how to initiate proper commutation, the basis for the fruitful interaction between individuals in a society.

For instance, Slouka argues that neglect to humanities subjects has resulted in some literature scholars complaining of the challenging of passing the knowledge to other generations (Slouka). It is intriguing to realize that Math and Sciences use specific subject terms and vocabulary that further suppresses domination of literature, history and other humanities subjects. Also, in the article, Slouka reveals the personal experience of the challenges of the education system neglecting humanities. He argues that humanities are essential in promoting social life, which forms the backbone of the prosperous economy. On the other hand, empirical evidence implies what can be observed and be generalized to fit in different situations. As such, society is capable of surviving the challenges that emerge over time.

Secondly, the author also presents an application of conflict theory in social life. It is a theory by Karl Marx, and it alludes that society is always at a perpetual conflict as a result of competition for the limited resources (Tischler). Getting back to the United States education system, it is evident that there is a fight for a balance between humanities subjects and Math and Sciences. However, the latter subjects have gained dominance hence suppressing the humanities, a factor that contributes to a partly developed society. For instance, one of the most probable endorsement may include increased public funding towards supporting the humanities education. Also, the author may endorse the need to maintain culture and society identity which can be achieved through the support of humanities education.
