Therefore, a morally ambiguous situation can be referred to as situations where one or a group of people have to deal with a condition or an act within ethical boundaries because any possible decision is likely to morally affect either party involved in one way or the other. Such a decision-making process puts the decision maker in an awkward position. The challenges involved in making such decision are many, as individuals involved are likely to be affected in different ways. In his efforts to identify factors that hinder educators from maintaining the socially benevolent motives they had when they joined the schools they work, Rogers and Sizer (244) argue that teachers often fail to act in situations that seem controversial because of the influence from the moral failures within the system.

This moral failure leads them to become either insensitive to ethical violations or tolerant of what they consider to be low-level ethical violations. This is because it shows what sort of values are of concern to the educator even as they are able to recognize the potential to do harm by recognizing what is at stake. Conclusion When an educator realizes that they are right inside an ambiguous moral position to act on a situation, it is always a challenge to rise up to the occasion and act on behalf of the potential victims of the moral misrepresentation. The failure to act may be triggered by the fear of being judged or the desire to avoid controversy among other inaction motivators.
