Laws and policies are important parts of society and any organization from the government to institutions like schools and universities (Toma et al. These laws also known as regulations can overlap and they can also have different points of influence and application. A good example is how international rules can have common laws with many countries and there are repercussions when broken. It also applies to institutions of higher learning with their laws. Thus, when it comes to these institutions, there are many sources of laws and they all influence the higher learning institution differently. It displays how internal and external laws work together. Additionally, some prevalent issues in our institution challenge the laws of the school. One of those issues is drug use and addiction, which falls into a legal gray area where the school cannot expel the student (Johann ,2014).

These students lose their lives, and some of them destroy their careers. The school laws can only punish the students by expulsion and if found with illegal contraband the school hands over the case to police. Tuition has been at the forefront of the prevalent issues’ students face and student loan help while they are in school but do not cover the period before the career starts. Apart from drugs and tuition, there are many more issues prevent in our university and are very relatable to other students. But, the most worrying is sexual. There are many unreported cases and even more reported ones from students, faculty and supporting staff. Although there are policies set to offer justice and prevention is this issue.

A good example of this is the ten higher education state policies of 2015. These policies touched on various issues that required strict adherence from the institutions. They touched on tuition that touches on public and government-funded institutions to have more funds and subsidies it for students due to the over 3% increase. The other policy also touches on finances and is generally on state appropriations for higher education also directed to government-funded higher education institutions. Those two among others can determine the direction of the school leader’s decision. It has begun by discussing the most prevalent issues in our university and how the law handles these matters. From tuition to student grants and other issues that face students, faculty and support staff.
