Name Course Tutor Date My Journey of Reading and Writing Reading and writing are two of the most important aspects of today’s life. In fact the academic life requires these two as basic skills if one is to be successful. When I started school I had no idea what reading or writing was compared to some of my friends who had some idea from their home schooling. The main reason I went to school or found school to be fun was a large number of new children and more time for recess. The first time I was introduced to reading was kindergarten. At the back of my mind I had no interest in books. In fact I thought reading was just looking at books that had words in them. In other words I did not see the importance of reading or writing I was just following orders from my the findings were appropriate. This was when I realized that reading and writing was going to be a major part of my life. I also understood that I had a very shallow vocabulary that I could expand through reading. this uplifted my reading and writing spirit. In conclusion I would say that after decades of growing and maturing through schooling I have understood that reading writing and being literate is very critical. I appreciate all my teachers for the efforts that they put in and I failed to notice. In fact I would say that most of the times they were correct about how much reading comprehending and writing with a readable handwriting is important. I hope that as I go to my next level of study that I build and broaden what I have learned and become an even better reader and creative writer than I am today. [...]

Order Description:

3 (THREE) page essay involving your personal experience with reading and/or writing in some way Essay MUST: Be at least 3 FULL pages long (to the bottom of page 3). Points will be deducted for lack of length before the rest of the essay is graded. For instance, an essay that is only 2 pages long can not receive more than 66 percent, and it is highly unlikely that the grade will be that good. Be in proper essay format: Times New Roman 12 point font, 1 inch margins all the way around, double-spacing throughout, proper four line heading on first page, last name and page number in upper right of EVERY page. An example of the format is at the end of this document. Points will be deducted for improper format as well. Have a thesis that specifically states the topics you will explore in your essay. This is very important to the flow, organization and completeness of the essay. Be about reading and or writing on a personal level in some way. Stories about other people or narratives that only partly pertain to reading/writing will receive stiff penalties. No outside sources should be used for this essay, so no Works Cited page is necessary. However, if you use a source, you MUST cite it in the body and use a Works Cited page. Just mentioning the title of a work does not necessitate a Works Cited page or citation. Proper punctuation should be used for books, essays, magazines, etc. Please ask if you do not know these. Again, points will be deducted for errors in simple grammar issues such as proper punctuation as well as basic grammar issues, including comma splices and fragments. Be submitted to the Essay #1 Folder by February 6th before class begins. What is a literacy narrative? A literacy narrative is simply a story about how you learned to read, write, and compose—for example, about learning to read cereal boxes, learning to write plays, listening to bedtime stories, getting a first library card, or learning to create Web pages or write text messages. Your narrative can focus on any memories of learning to read and/or write that are important and meaningful to you, but here are some suggestions to help you think about your own experiences: Tell a story about your earliest or best memory of reading. Tell a story about your earliest or best memory of writing. Tell about the kinds of reading and writing that were done around your house when you were little or when you were growing up. Were there books in your house? Comics? Music? Tell a story about what your parents/grandparents wrote (example: letters, journals, shopping lists, greeting cards, stories, poems). Tell a story that your parents/grandparents have told you about how they learned to read and write. Tell a story about how your writing has evolved from elementary to high school, or from a different set of time periods Tell a story about a particular form of writing you have issues with or have gotten better at and how. Talk about why writing and/or reading is difficult for you, or what particular grammar issues you have
