A reflexive account of the strengths and limitations of the presentation and how to improve
Document Type:Presentation
Subject Area:Nursing
One of my major strengths in the presentation is my ability to be well-organized and prepare well. As a result, I was well-prepared for the performance. I realized the importance of catching the attention of the audience in the introductory phase. Thus, I researched various ways of starting a presentation which I had not known before. Although the preparation and planning stage was quite demanding and time-consuming, I knew that I had to dedicate my time, effort and energy in making the presentation a success. I knew that in order to engage the audience, I had to use an effective tone. In addition to the tone, I asked the audience questions on what they had understood in respect to the topic being presented.
This way, I managed to engage them actively. Additionally, I made use of appropriate headings throughout the presentation, and this made my work clearly organized. I confidently delivered by referring to the information on the text slides since I did not have speaker notes. The feedback from my tutor was equally important. It enabled me understood the areas that I had performed well and those that required improvements. Moreover, through the review, the tutor informed me of what I should have done to improve my performance and what I should not have done. With such information, I believe that my future presentations would be better. Thus, the feedback from the tutor offered me clear guidance on how to improve my presentation skills.
