At that point Africa was headed in the right direction and they needed no additional funds or aids from any foreign country to economically sustain themselves. In that period these countries were ruled by dictators who in a way knew how to keep the country economically stable and the average GDP per person as it supposed to be. However the past two decades have come as with a great shock to Sub-Saharan countries. They are over reliance on the western economies has increased as the years have progressed by.
