Therefore, the deprived are forced into crime as the only alternative. As a consequence of individualism, the poor masses feel that the most powerful control opportunities which they themselves (the poor) cannot access. Besides, the theories derive much of their strength from the fact that crime emerge from capitalistic societies, which have failed to spread wealth equally among people. The fact that the rich would become more wealthy at the expense of the poor signifies that the latter would find crime to be attractive in order to also become rich. On the converse, the theories can be considered as weak. In this regard, whatever people believe has consequences on the society, specifically when it comes to the issue of racial profiling.
