Implementing Change Despite Resistance Nursing

The resistance that I would expect from the nursing staff would be resistance challenging the effectiveness of the intervention to the patient’s outcomes in care as well as arguments on the additional workload the intervention would have on the nurses. To reduce resistance, I would ensure to initially ensure that the staff nurses are well educated of the intervention, its importance in improving the patient outcomes post operatively and their roles in promoting better patient outcomes. This would ensure the nurses have the rationale for the intervention that is evidence-based. A second approach to minimize the resistance would be to ensure that the nurses are involved in the implementation of the interventions from the beginning where they are allowed to offer their inputs.
