As a result of this, female objectification serves as a debilitating factor in the progression of gender equality in current society. Female objectification is often displayed within social media platforms. The phenomenon is used in advertising platforms to make them more appealing to the male gender. Advertisements that display women as sexual objects cripple the mental progress of women. Young minds are susceptible to influence from social platforms. Consequently, the data received from these videos teach them about the dependence of women on the male species. The need to gratify a man’s desire places the woman at a state of submission.

In addition to this, the phenomenon causes distortion of the views behind sexual relations. The models are often sexually aggressive, lack blemishes and are considered perfect. The distorted image of beauty as led to an unachievable standard in the community. Women often try to become more appealing to the male gender and are often seen enumerating the models. Women become stressed trying to become like the models visualized in these adverts. As a result of this strain, many women develop eating disorders in an effort to become objects of desire (Suggett, 2016). Primarily, the objectification of the scenario makes such advances seem acceptable to a group of males in the work environments. People fail to understand the negative implications of harassment on the work environment (Jennifer Stevens Aubrey, 2011).
