Scientific evidence indicates the dangerous current high fishing levels for forage fish, predators, and industries. This is due to the rising demand for an animal protein which has seen more forage fish caught for animal feeds. The stocks of the forage fish are susceptible to population crashes and sensitive to environmental changes. A report released in 2012 by Lentfest Fish Task Force, consisting of 13 international group of distinguished fisheries and marine scientists called Little Fish Big impact indicated that a reported catch of nearly$17 billion is generated by forage fish per year.
