Each side of the debate has facts and logic to prove the point. The discussion has been endless over the past two years due to numerous school shootings and horrific gun violence in major cities like Chicago. In Chicago alone, around ten human deaths occur due to guns, and both sides agree that something should be done about gun violence. As the country approaches approximately 50% of in favor of gun control, the majority of the people are still reluctant about the efficiency of gun control. The USA has most guns globally and also more dangerous crime rates. Therefore, controlling ownership of firearms is not the desired way to reduce crime. The argument of regulating firearms by the proponents is that firearms are the main cause of human deaths.

The argument is unsubstantiated. According to various publications, they are more than 70 million people who owned guns in the USA privately. Their major uses of the guns are purposely for hunting, business premise protection, family protection, and target practice. If additional gun control laws are put in place to deter citizens from acquiring it which have been stated above will lead to even the highest rates of crimes. Laws more often have loopholes that can be exploited by intelligent lawyers who more often than not represent dangerous and powerful offenders. Additionally, it will open ways that can be exploited by those individuals who have the ability. More gun ownership will lead to more safety of citizens. Particular structures should be put in place to deter access of offenders from acquiring guns.

In general, gun control is the activity to limit the availability of guns using the supply-reduction strategy. Gun control is a technique that can reduce crimes in many ways. Many statistics show that an easy way to carry guns increases the rates of gun homicides. The rights to carry guns should be made limited. In many cases, confrontations are more likely to escalate and with the presence of guns around death can happen easily. Many people do not understand the meaning of gun control. Contrary to what people know, gun control does not mean abolishing all the firearms or the Second Amendment. The argument is unpopular and logistically or politically impossible. Gun control is about limits and not abolition. Limiting the gun ownership plus other specific types of the gun will allow people to protect themselves against offenders.
