Are Unions Necessary? Student’s Name Institutional Affiliation Are Unions Necessary? Labor unions are an important tool that is used to put a check on employers around the world. There are numerous benefits associated with the presence of unions and they should continue their operations in Canada. Currently several unions operate within the country and these represent about a million workers. However it is imperative to understand that the popularity of workers is decreasing. In the past almost all the workers joined the union given that the biggest employers were manufacturing companies (Hebdon & Brown 2016). Most of these have shut associated with them.
