CHAPTER TWO Review of Literature The exclusion of women from the workforce in the U.S. dates to the beginning of the industrial era in the early nineteenth century (Pirouznia 2013). For the last 150 years women were openly discriminated against by employers who either refused to hire them under any circumstances or who rejected them if they were married or had children (Pirouznia 2013). However the role of women worldwide is undergoing a dramatic change. Women today share the podium with men in almost fields be it in the kitchen or in the armed forces academy orcorporate sector rural paddy field or space research (Mahapatra& Gupta 2013). It is important to emphasize that working women are no longer a rarity and are now accepted as an integral part of the working force. I need to complete my literature review for my dissertation proposal. I've written 13-14 pages already, however, my lit review needs to be at least 40-50 pages, NOT INCLUDING THE REFERENCE PAGES. The paper has be written at a high caliber level and in APA format. I have numerous references to assist in the writing process and all references are peer reviewed articles. I've already created my outline for my literature review and placed the outline in the my original paper that I've started writing. My dissertation topic is the perception of professional women educational leaders that have encountered barriers to entry in leadership positions in higher education.
