The law of dominance. The dominant trait is the one whose appearance is most seen in the offspring. In complete dominance, we have one phenotype being dominant while the other is recessive. For example, an offspring resulting from a parent with the dominant alleles ‘BB’ and another parent with the recessive alleles ‘bb’ inherits a ‘Bb’ genotype and displays the dominant phenotype. Another type of dominance is co-dominance where there is a full expression of both the alleles for a trait. Each homozygous parent in the P generation produces only one type of gamete. Either YY for yellow seed color or yy for green seed color. Once fertilization occurs, the heterozygous F1 offspring is endowed with two different types of gametes.
