These discussions have suggested an effective strategy to solve this issue based on the role played by students with a mental health problem, or other disabling conditions. One avenue to the proposed intervention is documented under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The act mandates that all children with disabilities be recommended for special education services within school systems (Anitha, 2014). However, not all students with disabilities are eligible to receive the exceptional education support. Reasons for include different eligibility criteria, educational, and judicial purposes across public policy domains and perspectives. In this case, Harper has been found to be a victim of emotional disturbance based on several physical characteristics described by her relationship with teachers, environment, and peers. She dislikes some of the teachers, kids who fail to excel in Math, and she’s always upset about the surrounding noise level within the school compound.

On the other hand, Harper could have autism too. This because she obsessed with reading and sharing ideas on weather rated topics. Autism is a lifelong developmental disability which affects an individual’s communication skills, social skills, interpersonal relationships, and behavior. The disease mostly appears during the first three years of life and is believed to be more prevalent in males when compared to females. It affects nearly all racial, ethnic, and social-economic group across the globe. It is a developmental disorder, which is characterized by impairments in socialization, imagination, and communication.

a) Communication In the communication sector, impairments include an inability to use speech functionality. Culture One of the most favorite example that binds cultural diversity and disability is behavior. Teachers who work with individuals of specific disabilities don’t understand why it is crucial to consider behavioral aspects when reprimanding children. Some of the peers behave differently towards a disabled person based on negative perception or cultural beliefs that disability is a curse. In most cases, the children fail to maintain direct eye contact to a fellow student in their class who is suffering from autism. This scenario renders the affected children to develop depression, and hence they end up being discriminated from the rest of the children. Community influence Children with autism have issues when verbally communicating or interacting with community members.

The approach and attention provided by the members determine the actual view on social interactions skills of a child with autism. This process means that the child can freely engage with the teachers, friends, and family members hence excelling academically. Different studies based on the relationship between autism and cognitive development have been done. The main aim of these studies involves understanding the developmental trajectories that follow for a child to be considered a person with autism disorder. Fundamental obligations of the child are always met when the parent collaborates and respond sensitively. Also, developmental intervention is an essential educational approach that motivates a child to begin a desired physical trait. A teacher or a therapist might be involved to enhance further communication and engagement between the child with autism and the parents.
