Based on the ideas presented by Shannon (1949) Cryptography is crucial for securing communications but it is not sufficient by itself it works together with other security elements to improve the efficiency of communication within a system. Cryptography involves secret writing focusing on facilitating privacy or confidentiality where the message is only read by the intended receiver. Authentication and integrity are vital functions of cryptography where users are given identity and they receive the original message with no alterations. Shannon (1949) develops a theory of secrecy systems using a theoretical approach to complement the cryptography’s treatment. Shannon uses a key strategy employed in cryptography during generation of messages transmitted through a secrecy system. Shannon also explains enciphering of messages into cryptogram through simple transformation which is a fundamental concept that shows error elimination within a system in cryptography. Conclusion In conclusion as the processing power of systems increases the need for security also increases since the attackers go after primary keys that use sophisticated algorithms. However cryptography ensures clarity in writing secrecy of a system to provide efficiency in the transformation of the message into cryptograms as well as its transmission from the sender to the receiver. Further research is also recommended especially on digital cryptography based on cryptanalysis and cryptosystem attacks.
