In the process, they made the citizens believe in their services as they could acquire what they wanted in the stores ranging from groceries, cereals, clothing as well as tools. Being a family business, Mom & Pop enhanced social interactions with the community making all the individuals associated with it. The Mom & Pop stores were embedded in the society and the culture of the individuals around. This strategy enabled the stores to gain the loyalty of its customers. The change of the market structure from a monopoly to the free market through the emergence of other players made them adopt the virtual market strategy to ensure that they remain relevant. Also being family businesses, Mom & Pop stores lacked the specialization in the different items which were undertaken by competitive firms.
