Greek sculptures through the ages
The art of the classical period was characterized by freedom of expression and a free-flowing form of life (Neer 5). As Greek art moved into the Hellenistic era, the craftsmen developed into artists and had the shapes of the features of their sculptures being more pronounced. The sculptures in the Hellenistic era were more naturalistic and expressive. The archaic era The Sounion Kouros is one of the most famous sculptures from the Greek archaic era. It is a statue of a naked young man made from marble. The Laocoon and his sons are also struggling with the serpent in the sculpture, a representation of the human struggle. How earlier work influences the later Art in the early ages influenced later art. The characteristics of the sculptures in the previous era served as the basis for the development of art in the next era.
