The art works applied philosophy and style of that time. Modern arts however discourage the ideas of the traditional materials on the world of art. Following the many different types of art works many artists exist where many earned herself many prizes such as the ‘Future Generation Art Prize’ received in 2012 and the ‘CIFO grant’ of 2011 received from ‘Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation’. GOAL: Students will research and critique one 20th or 21st Century artist and their contribution to the development of modern culture. Choices may include the pictorial arts, sculpture, architecture, music, dance, theatre, film, graphic arts, digital arts etc. The artist must be of the 20th or 21st century. (They may not have been born in the 20th century but possibly the late 19th century or may have been born in the 20th century but now impact the 21st century. As long as most of their careers were within the 20th century, they are acceptable.) YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DO YOUR RESEARCH PAPERS ON THE FOLLOWING ARTISTS: Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera APPROACH: This paper should not be just about the biographical information on the artist. That is important but boring. The biographical information is simply going to an encyclopedia and saying, born...did this...did that...died. Research what the artist did for the art world. How did he/she change it, impact it, affect people like us who are not necessarily major players in the art world. Also, what is the "dirt" on these people? That's the stuff we remember. Think about all of the Hollywood Gossip Magazines and TV shows the world watches incessantly. These artists were the "stars" of the art world during their "reign". WHY??? Be sure to include: Introductory paragraph with a clearly stated thesis Concluding paragraph Documentation of sources as necessary (works cited) Use works cited to enhance the paper ONLY. Your paper should NOT be a majority of cut and paste from books or the internet. Identification of the key similarities and differences between the two genres and primary sources 1000 word minimum Double-spaced typed 12 pt font (something normal like Arial or Times New Roman) Attach paper to Research Paper Portal. Do NOT type it in the portal itself.
