What should art do

Any artwork functions within the realms of domination by the material elements of nature. However, the great question is on what should art do? As conceptualized in Adorno’s aesthetics, arts should perform a utopian function and deliver artwork from domination by aspects of natural beauty. Art is a form of liberation from the abstract and realistic reasoning of daily experiences. Artwork is filled with a utopian role full of knowledge and truth (Pg 4). Art is a form of expression that brings back to reality the autonomy of art. Art is an ideological construct of inevitability for social life. Social life is unredeemed. Elements of social life are ruled by the heteronymous and alien principles which are phenomenal. Artwork elements are integrated into a freely articulated and no coercive totality, thereby redeeming them from their state of lack.
