Reaction paper

Reaction Paper Prompt #1 - Choose one of the following questions to answer for your paper. Your paper needs to be: (1) typed, (2) 3-5 pages in length, (3) in 12 point font (times new roman/arial), (4) double spaced, and (5) include a reference page in MLA format. For all three prompts you should use the Democratic Candidate Debate on Feb 11, 2016 (PBS) as the basis for your analysis. While the whole debate is interesting, please watch at least the first 45 minutes of the debate for this assignment. If you have trouble watching the debate at home please visit the SSSC and watch it on the computers available there. You can view the debate on https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oRwLsNpI7OM 1. Refutation In lecture and in your textbook we have covered the concept of refutation. Given what we’ve studied, (1) explain refutation, (2) analyze how well Clinton and Sanders refute each other’s arguments giving each a grade from A-F, and (3) explain and justify why each debaters refutation skills did or did not matter in who you feel ultimately won the debate. 2. Fallacies In lecture and in your textbook we have covered the concept of fallacies. Given what we’ve studied, (1) explain fallacies (including at least 3 specific fallacies most relevant to the debate), (2) analyze how well Sanders and Clinton did avoiding fallacies giving each a grade from A-F, and (3) explain and justify why each debaters use or avoidance of fallacies did or did not matter in who you feel ultimately won the debate. 3. Toulmin Model In lecture and in your textbook we have covered the concept of the Toulmin Model. Given what we’ve studied, (1) explain the Toulmin model (focus on the 3 main parts), (2) analyze how well Sanders and Clinton used the Toulmin model when making arguments giving each a grade from A-F, and (3) explain and justify why each debaters use of the Toulmin model did or did not matter in who you feel ultimately won the debate. The structure of your paper for any of the three prompts should include: First, an introduction to your paper Second, explain the concept in sufficient detail including any related concepts. You should include at least 1 reference here for your concept. Third, a discussion of the performance of each candidate on your subject A paragraph on Sanders including your grade A-F A paragraph on Clinton including your grade A-F Fourth, explain and justify why the concept did or did matter in your decision on who won the debate Fifth, a brief conclusion Sixth, a reference page in MLA format
