Synapse A synapse is a junction between two neurons via which impulses are transferred from one nerve to the next by the means of a chemical called neurotransmitter. A neuromuscular junction on the other hand, is a chemical synapse that is formed between a muscle fibre and the motor neuron. The motor neuron communicates via a synapse (using the chemical neurotransmitter) to the muscle fibre. The communication leads to contraction of the muscles. Therefore, it can be concluded that a synapse and the neuromuscular junction are involved in muscle contraction. , Johnston, K. , & Duvall, M. A new paradigm for muscle contraction.
