The edge of heaven movie review
Document Type:Coursework
Subject Area:Cultural Studies
He is Turkish but lives and works in German. Interestingly, he manages to survive and harmoniously interact with people from both nations. Illustratively, he is a professor in German and manages to purchase a book store in Turkey. Unlike other characters in the film, like Sussanne, Nejat shows care, respect and love for anyone despite his or her nationality. He welcomes Susanne in Turkey and also decides to find Ayten despite not knowing her. Unlike initial movies, this movie uses two languages which make it appealing to audiences in both nations. Likewise, the to and fro movement of characters from Turkey to German and back also portrays the notion of post-nationalism. From a personal perspective, the movie does not depict traditional identities as less important but emphasizes that traditional identity should not hinder interaction and integration between people of different cultures and nations.
