For instance, a section of school staff and parents are of the opinion that uniform policies should be enforced since it enhances safety, modesty, structure and minimizes ridicule among the students. However, on the other hand, some parents argue that uniforms deny the children the fundamental freedom of expression, free spirit, independence, and individuality. To some extent both the arguments are valid and the proponents provide effective arguments. However, in my opinion, I feel that public school students should not be required to wear uniforms. This paper provides an argument as to why students should not wear uniforms. Secondly, the primary purpose of uniforms is to promote totalitarian attitudes. In sense, there are no practical benefits of school uniforms. The reason why adults are advocating for uniforms is that they want to exercise authority over the children in a manner that amounts to punishment.

Their fascistic attitudes demand that they make children look alike by imposing uniforms as this is a perfect tool for dictating what they want them (students) to do. This kind of manipulation is targeted towards stamping out freedom of expression and individualism in favor of conformism. For instance, doctors may probably wear scrubs, nurses similarly wear white coats and some scrubs. Those work at different companies also have their distinct clothing, for example, Best Buy workers wear blue shirts. In some offices, employees put on slacks with collared shirt and therefore all the workers must comply with such a regulation. Therefore, it is only fair that children are given the opportunity to explore self and express themselves through their clothing. Finally, adoption of school uniforms amounts to a violation of the first amendment.
