This definition is based on online resources specifically "The Guardian Magazine" and direct life experience. Gentrification is a curious thing in Boston as students move in early September and leave a few days before July. In San Francisco, there has been a positive move by banning displacement. It is after the United States Department of Housing declared it illegal to displace residents who have applied for federally financed housing. The bone of contention has been as a result of the construction of Willie B. Some areas such as Chinatown exist because of affordable housing. If such a town disappeared, most residents would be left with neither housing nor an identity. From the days of Ellis Island, most individuals have inhabited particular neighborhoods, but due to extreme lengths of people, they will go and live in metropolitan areas, and as such, cultural strongholds are coming into an end.
