Name Instructor Course Date Question 1 Can science be reconciled with religion? Introduction This question has been paramount to class discussion throughout the semester as it is at the root of nearly every other issue that has concerned this class. Depending on one’s perspective you can ask whether science can be reconciled with religion or else whether religion can be reconciled with science. Throughout this class readings and discussion we have seen a wide variety of perspectives on this important question. Some say that the two institutions are entirely incompatible and this point of view comes from both fundamentalist religious adherents and fundamentalist evolutionary biologists or other secular scientists. It is a bipartisan discord. Others maintain that science and religion are separate but mutually beneficial and educataive human institutions. Still others hold to the idea that science is integral to religion and vice versa for a holistic view of the metaphysical.
