According to the recent IPCC report climate change is projected to escalate further deteriorating economic growth and food security. The geographical position of Nigeria along the tropical climate that temperatures are up surging designate that climate change will continue to intensify. Other researchers have emphasized that there is nexus between the impacts of climate change on food security and economic growth. However there are research disparities on the impacts of climate change on food security and economic growth. Most researcher have put more emphasis on the economics and costs of adapting or mitigating climate change. This research will assess the extent to which the new climate will trigger food insecurity and inhibit economic growth when fully established. Research Questions 1) What is the state and variability of climate change in West Africa? 2) How will climate change trigger food insecurity in West Africa? 3) What is the extent of climate change limitation to economic growth? Research Objectives Main Objective The main research objective is to assess the impacts of climate change and variability on food security.
