Institution Professor Course Date Minds Brains and Machines There has been a lot of research on the relationship and similarities between the human mind computers and machines. Searle and Turing present conflicting views on how human minds compare with computers and machines. Alan Turing did a test for machine intelligence. Turin’s study was to ascertain whether or not a machine could carry on a conversation to the extent of fooling humans that it is human. Turin avoided the first object of his test which was to test whether a machine could actually have mind of the view that human beings unlike machines have the natural abilities to communicate a language. He argues that communicating is something far beyond mere manipulation of symbols. Humans unlike machines do something beyond the mere manipulation of symbols which enables us to understand the meanings of the symbols.
