The stigma has developed from the existing forces and which mostly are out of situations or happening that have a great impact in the life of that person. There is the need to carry out awareness and educative forums towards addressing the issue of mental health for the general population so as to help them deal with the issues brought about by mental health. Mental illness has become significantly prevalent in our society, especially for those who are university or college students where reports show that they have been adversely affected by these conditions. Being on their prime years and adolescent stages, the college students are more exposed to the conditions as they happen and mainly have less resistance mechanisms at this stage.

Mental illness among this group of people has been derived from the environment they tend to have daily interactions with and through which has influenced their behavior. 9% of college student happen to suffer from the anxiety disorder and which is related to their exposure and experiences within the school environment. The development of this number of student with the disorder is considered from the interactions the students have with awful experiences or unwanted exposures in those environments. According to a report, female students were postulated to be more exposed towards development of the anxiety disorders as compared to their male counterparts, (Harðardóttir, 2017). The provision by this front was that the female students bore the perception and mentality of their weak gender as compared to men and hence their adapted response when faced with such instances.

They are generally worried about things that even have less impact in their lives as compared to what male students feel on their part. Generalized anxiety disorder is another form of anxiety that develops in a person’s livelihood. It is the most common form of anxiety that is experienced by the students in colleges and often occur amongst that population when faced with certain circumstances. It develops from the feeling of excessive tension and unrealistic worry for no apparent reason. It s general the feeling of worry or tension that has no major basis that can call for alarm in that sense. The disorder occurs often among the student in instances when they remember their unfinished class work, lack of attending the lecture and many other small issues that might arise within the school vicinity.

The occurrence of the depression in their lives disintegrates their behavior and practice in several situations such as in decision making process. The symptoms of the depression can be looked in from the perspective of the student change in behavior and way of doing things and which will have definitely changed from the normal reaction to another new front. Student having been faced with this form of happening, their scholarly performance and social functioning is altered making them less reactive as well as incompetent in mingling with others. In general their activity and productivity gets curtailed down by the influence or happening of the depression. According to research, female students are more susceptible to have depression disorder than male students. The feelings include extreme sadness, anxiety, and exhaustion making it difficult for the victims to continue performing their daily chores.

Psychotic depression is another form of depression that can be traced also among the students. It is the feeling generated by a person having delusions and hallucinations which are appear to the victims alone. These feelings brings about the form disturbing thoughts and memories for someone and leave them without mind peace due to the bad image reflected within them. They generate from the guilty feeling, poverty and illness factors. The condition shows that the population of college students are posted to have the association and development of the condition arising from their childhood days but prevailed in high levels when they enter into the adolescent cycle and which always has mixed feelings about all aspects of life. According to Nelson 2016, the occurrence of the ADHD amongst the students also differed in terms of their gender as it has been the situation with other mental illness.

The female students expressed to have high depressive and anxiety symptoms than the male students with the reflection based on the gender differences. Also it is clearly established that students who have ADHD reported to significantly have higher anxiety and depressive symptoms as compared to students without the ADHD. In this reflection, it establishes that all these mental illness disorders have a relation to each other in one way or another. The application shows the development of uncontrollable behavior within their lives and it has been one of the facilitator of the peer pressure. Majority of the students who have found themselves in situations they cannot explain there before and to which seem unrealistic, the student has the probability of having this condition of ADHD.

Impulsivity provides the act of doing things out of the impulse or first thoughts that come out of the mind of them. It is an application that provides for the person to act according to their impulse and not with any connection of thinking critically about the action. It makes a person carry out hasty actions that appear at that particular moment without any analysis of the situation and which might turn out later to have negative effect or harm to the person, (National Institute of Mental Health). There has been a development of college programs that aims to fight and help the students with these conditions. It has been established that a number of students find it hard to attend to a hospital or healthcare facility to explain on their condition from the way the issues have been stigmatized by the society in general.

However, development of programs in schools seem to serve a great purpose under which the students will have the opportunity to deal with their situations in an healthy manner. Creating awareness through educative channels for the victims of mental illness: The disgusting issue sometimes happens to be the assumption that each and every person knows what others know and there is no need to enlighten them with the situation. Colleges have come up with educative channels or programs that help enlighten the students on the need to seek medical help with their condition. However, the introduction of school programs such as counseling and created awareness seem to respond effectively towards reducing the effects amongst the students. In conclusion, mental illness has been proven to exist in high levels amongst the college students and more and more programs need to be set up to ensure a friendly environment for the population.
