However only a handful of people take time to evaluate the presented arguments in order to determine their premises and establish whether adequate rational evidence is provided to support those conclusions. This paper will evaluate the arguments presented in the article Zero Tolerance using the ARG conditions in order to establish whether they are cogent or not. The argument in standardized form is as follows: (1) Zero tolerance policy is an expression of public frustration with the lack of justice in the world. (2) Zero tolerance manner of resolving problems is absolute. (3) Many innocent American youths are However the premises combined together do not provide a firm base for the conclusion in that the premises does not provide facts to support the conclusion. For instance it would have been more convincing if it included statistics from a credible source and further provide the criteria and methodologies used to arrive at the conclusion. This way the premises would be more persuasive. In conclusion it is explicit through the evaluation of the article zero tolerance using the ARG conditions that the argument is not persuasive enough to convince someone that the conclusion is valid. In particular the premises did not present adequate facts from credible sources which would in turn make it more persuasive. Bearing in mind that policy amendments or abandonment requires numerous evidence and facts then the evidences presented in this article did not meet the threshold required to champion for the amendment of the policy.
