Name: Instructor: Course: Date: Americans Use Far More Opioids than Anyone Else In the World I chose this article as its subject reflects on the issues that are facing many of the American people. The usage of opioids in America is not gender selective age selective or even race selective. All types of people in America use opioids and thus this makes a good subject to choose. The aftermaths of usage of opioids affect the whole nation and thus it make it a good topic to choose. The opioids pandemic is getting out of hand for the American government. Usage of opioids can become a pandemic if not well controlled. Opioids are used to cure pain. Opioids are powerful narcotic substances that include painkillers in pill form such as methadone oxydone and hydrodone. Though orphans are focus group that is affected directly by the usage of opioids in America. The article states that putting restrictions on prescriptions of opioids will deny access of them to the deserving patients. Placing restrictions would not deny deserving patient access to the opioids but rather would save them from the addiction problem. Some of the patients who got addicted ended up to dead due to the continuous usage of the opioids. Instead pharmaceutical industry should come up with other means to provide pain relieving mechanisms that do not lead to addiction. This will not only save resources but also will save the younger generation from the trap of addiction. Work cited Humphreys Keith.
