First Last Name Name of Instructor Course Date Case Study Rubric Autism is a form of mental disorder in which the victim suffers from a range of conditions that often result in difficulties in such things as; repetitive behaviours social skills speech and non-verbal communication and may also exhibit unique strengths and differences. The condition tends to be clearly visible between the age of 2 to 3 years. In the United States 1 in 68 children reportedly suffers from the disorder and it’s more prevalent in boys than in girls with 1 in 42 boys being diagnosed with the disorders as opposed to 1 in 189 girls. Studies conducted around the disorder indicate that a third of those people who suffer from the disorder exhibit some form of intellectual disability. These studies have further indicated that the condition may be accompanied by other forms of medical as well as trouble in social interactions is the fact that she not been properly nurtured during her formative years. Instead she was abandoned by the mother and left to cope with an abusive father and uncle. It’s Torey’s effort and resilience that gave Sheila a second chance at overcoming the challenges that came with living with her condition. The kind of strategies she applied and her immense patience is what gained Sheila’s trust and finally enabled her to open up and live a better life. How well a patient responds to treatment of any behavioural disorder such as autism depends on how early the treatment begins the level of care offered and the love with which it is offered.
