Its time to redefine sleep: applied SWR techniques developed for elite Olympic athletes. Sportex Medicine (57) 27-30. The title of the article is Its Time to Redefine Sleep by Nick Littlehales. The purpose of this article was to show the key factors of a sleep recovery program where individuals are taught how to establish a practical and accomplishable sleep wake routine (SWR). The research design used for this study was based on the sleep wake routine. The participants were required to accomplish the goals for the amount of sleep they were supposed to get. Researches then recorded how the athlete performed and how he/she felt after a given amount of sleep. The findings include a study by Eve Van Cauter PhD that indicated lack of enough sleep led to Caliber Male Collegiate Weightlifters. The purpose of this article was to show how twenty-four hours of sleep loss can either affect the weight lifter results positively or negatively. For the research design nine male weight lifters received twenty-four hours of sleep loss and a normal night of sleep and were each given a sleep journals to keep track of their experiences. After the exercises researchers recorded their blood level mood states and subjective sleepiness. The subjects (weight lifters) did exercises such as snatch clean and jerk and front squat. The primary finding from this research was that twenty-four hours of sleep loss does not affect your performance in a high intense workout. The snatch clean and jerk and front squat results were unaffected by the amount of sleep. All in all the data collected proves that there is no relationship between sleep and high intensity workouts.
