It requires people who are ultraistic, physically and mentally fit and put the safety of others before their own. To qualify, one must be physically and mentally fit because of the nature of the job. To start with, only US citizens and sailors qualify to join the rescue Swimmer Training, because they have training on how to handle casualties in water. It is open for both males and females who meet the physical and mental requirements. One must pass the least score in the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery test. After the eighteen weeks they are taught survival skills for the navy and then they are ready for deployment. Air swimmer’s main mission is to carry out search and rescue missions for lost aircraft and other army men.

They also carry out rescue missions for ordinary citizens and carry out humanitarian work. They mostly carry out water rescue missions, but they can be called upon to perform their duties ion land. Rescue swimmers also find and rescue people who have been lost in dangerous situations on land; an example is if a mountain climber gets lost. The US navy air swimmers as discussed attend rigorous training- both for air and water, and they only qualify to be air swimmers once they are through with their PQS in their new squadron. One is paid 8,000 dollars once they enlist to be air swimmers. Once one is officially an air swimmer, the average salary is $45,000. Ideally, the salary can be anything from $25000 to $58000, depending on the rank, and work experience.
